SUMMARY:Workshop: Future Optical Networks\, 21 September 2023
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1701180909468{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]\nFuture Optical Networks Workshop\, 21 September 2023\n\n  \n      \n  \nRationale and Objectives \n“Future Optical Networks” is the central theme in a workshop organized on the morning of the 21st September\, by NetworldEurope\, in a joint effort with CCSA\, which will host its onsite component in Shanghai (afternoon\, local time). The workshop aims to provide an open information space to share current and future views about the future optical networks\, and how this theme is being addressed by different stakeholders. Two different discussion panels are organized\, discussing current and future network operator’s implementations\, as well as new advances in optical technology that can be applied in access and transport networks. Ultimately\, the workshop will contribute to identify future optical innovation challenges that are being posed by the ever-increasing bandwidth demanded in optical infrastructure for the benefit of our society. \nThe workshop will feature key speakers from industry and academia\, representing the views of manufacturers\, operators\, standardization bodies\, and research scientists. \nThe event will have a hybrid format\, with some speakers onsite and others online. Nevertheless\, since only a limited number of places are available\, this option will be confirmed on an individual basis for regular attendees. \nWorkshop agenda:\n \n\n\n\n\n	NetworldEurope & CCSA Future Optical Networks Workshop\n21 September\, CEST 9:00-12:30 / Beijing 15:00-18:30\n\n\n\n\n	AgendaTalk TitleSpeakers\n\n\n	09:00-09:20Opening Speech and introductionRui Aguiar\, NetworldEurope\, Steering board chair / Wen\, Ku\, CCSA Board Chair\n\n\n	Panel 1\n\n\n	09:20-09:50Optical Network Challenges and Evolution in the Computing EraTang\, Xiongyan\, VP and Chief Scientist of China Unicom Research Institute\n\n\n	Optical networks: From past challenges to future opportunitiesJorg-Peter Elbers\, VP Advanced Technology\, Standards & IPR\, ADTRAN\n\n\n	09:50-10:20New Use Cases and New Technology Trends in Optical CommunicationsZhang fatai\, IETF CCAMP WG Co-Chair\, ITU-T SG15 Vice Chair\, CCSA TC6 Vice Chair\, Optical Standards & Patents Department Director in Huawei\n\n\n	The future of optical access network (FTTx)Philippe Chanclou\, Innovation head of Fixed Access Networks\, Orange \n\n\n	10:20-11:00Current Situation & Challenges / New Use Cases & Tech Trend Q&ASpeakers + Panel Guest Carlos Bouça Head Of Fixed Access Network\, Altice\n\n\n	11:00-11:20Break\n\n\n	Panel 2\n\n\n	11:20-11:50Progress and Prospects of Optical Network Technologies and Standards in ChinaZhang haiyi\, Director of Institute of Technology and Standards CAICT\, Head of 5G Transport WG of IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group\, Deputy leader of TC6 WG1 and ST7 WG1 of CCSA\n\n\n	Evolution towards the 6th generation fixed network (F6G): Research challenges and standard roadmapRaul Munoz\, Research Director\, Head of Packet Optical Networks and Services at CTTC \n\n\n	11:50-12:20Standard & Next Step Industry Development Q&A Speakers + Wang\, Xuemin\, VP of Huawei European Research Institute\n\n\n	12:20-12:30Closing words\nRui Luis Aguiar\, Networld Europe\, Steering board chair / \nWen\, Ku\, CCSA Board Chair\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mk_divider style=”padding_space”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1701180871002{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]\nSee the workshop report here \nSee all presentations here \nSee all videos here \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mk_divider style=”padding_space”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1701180567506{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]\nWorkshop Moderators \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1695116385222{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]NetworldEurope[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1680525146149{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1680525313483{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Prof. Rui L Aguiar\, Chair of the Steering Board of the NetworldEurope European Technology Platform\, has been involved in research and strategic research management since 1988\, having been involved (in multiple positions) in all European-funded framework programs.   He was involved in the development of the NetworldEurope initiative\, and the launch of the 5G-Infrastructure Association PPP\, and has led the association before.
